I just came across the beta version of Microsoft Academic Search Engine (click here). It has a number of cool features. Personally, I like the ranking lists based on citations, h-index and G-index (see here).

My paper entitled “Financial crisis and stock market efficiency: empirical evidence from Asian countries” (co-authored with Robert Brooks and Jae Kim) has been listed ScienceDirect Top 25 Hottest Articles in International Review of Financial Analysis for more than 4 years. Notably, the paper occupied the top spot for four consecutive quarters since Oct-Dec 2008.
When I started my academic career in 2002, I used to keep my submission records in the traditional way, that is keeping all the hardcopies in lever arch files. During my PhD candidature in Australia, due to limited office space and to avoid the trouble of shipping boxes of papers back home, I have cultivated the habit of reading articles onscreen and keeping all my records electronically. For tracking my article submissions, Microsoft Excel spreadsheet was the convenient choice at that time.

Google has introduced the Google Scholar Citations: a simple way for researchers to compute their citation metrics and track them over time. After the Beta version, it is now available to everyone (click here).

Wiley-Blackwell publishes many reputable economics and finance journals. I hope I can publish some of my papers in their journals.

During my bachelor (UKM) and master degree (UPM), the Applied Economics (AE) Series published by Taylor & Francis were one of the most popular journals in libraries (click here). The AE Series contains Applied Economics, Applied Financial Economics, Applied Economics Letters & Applied Financial Economics Letters (2005-2008, later incorporated into AEL). Even when I started my academic career with UMS, the library there also has a complete collection of AE Series.
Against this backdrop, it was natural for me to harbor the dream of publishing my articles in all the AE Series. As noted earlier, my first ISI/WoS article is published in Applied Economics in 2003 (click here). My “Grand Slam” dream finally materialized in 2009, with articles published in AFEL (2007), AEL (2009), and AFE (2009).
As of 2011, I have 10 articles published in the AE Series- Applied Economics (2), Applied Financial Economics (1), Applied Economics Letters (5), and Applied Financial Economics Letters (2). The 2 forthcoming papers have been assigned to 2012 and 2013 under the Build Issue service by the publisher (articles are entered straight into the online issue upon receipt of the corrected proofs and thereby receive page numbers immediately and publish to an accelerated timescale).
My first article in Elsevier’s journal is Lim (2007, Physica A), a paper that I wrote during my PhD candidature. After that great experience, I was motivated to publish more in their journals. As of 2012, I have published 8 articles in Elsevier’s journals, and I hope the number will keep on increasing.
