Teaching History

    Tunku Abdul Rahman College (1999-2000)

I started my academic career at Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TARC), joining the School of Business Studies as a lecturer in March 1999. With the mission of providing quality and affordable education, TARC is a teaching-intensive public institution of higher learning. During my time, a teaching load of 18-20 hours per week was the norm. Nevertheless, my 20-month stint at TARC has equipped me with the necessary skills to be an effective teacher.

    Universiti Malaysia Sabah (2002-2013)

I joined Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) as a lecturer in January 2002, upon completing my master degree at Universiti Putra Malaysia. In Labuan School of International Business & Finance, I taught courses for the Bachelor of International Finance with Honors (International Financial Economics).

After serving the university for 3 years, I received a staff scholarship to pursue my PhD study at Monash University in Australia. With the scholarship, I took a break from teaching for 4 years from 15 October 2005 to 14 October 2009. I resumed my teaching duties at UMS after completing my PhD as scheduled.

    Universiti Malaya (2013- Present)

After serving UMS for 12 years, I decided that the time has come for a new challenge. Universiti Malaya, the oldest and premier research university in Malaysia, was my first choice because the university has outlined an ambitious plan to be ranked among the top world 100 universities. In November 2013, I completed my dream move to UM, joining the Department of Economics in the Faculty of Economics and Administration.
